AIDS IN AFRIKA

AIDS IN AFRIKA

President Bush is in Africa promising to give money to fight the scourge of AIDS, where millions have died of it and millions more will die. Did our loving heavenly Father in His infinite foreknowledge and wisdom see this plague arising? Did He provide for it in advance?
* Yes! He invented something called "love" (agape), to be exercised and enjoyed in holy marriage. He gave a gift called "the Holy Spirit," who is more than powerful enough to enable human beings to "say 'No' to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in this present age" (Titus 2:11, NIV). AIDS flourishes where there's no love and sexual promiscuity is rife. The agony that comes from indulgence of sexual laxity is horrendous.
* Sexual immorality, whether before or after marriage, is totally inconsistent with the proclamation of the pure gospel of the true Christ. But the enemy of all righteousness has invented a counterfeit gospel that has deceived multitudes. They assume that it's virtually impossible to "say 'No'" to those sexual temptations. "Everybody does it!" is the cry, and Jesus Christ is viewed as an indulgent rescuer who overlooks fornication and adultery and promises a pie-in-the-sky salvation after you die. Just keep on confessing to the priest, try to be "good," but if you find it difficult, well, "everybody does it." And millions doom themselves to early, horrible death.
* They need a church in their midst that dares to proclaim the gospel of the true Christ, whom God "sent in the likeness of [our] sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in [our fallen, sinful] flesh, that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the [Holy] Spirit" (Rom. 8:3, 4). That true Christ is described in Hebrews 2: "Forasmuch as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, He also Himself likewise took part of the same. . . . In all things it behoved Him to be made LIKE unto His brethren. . . . In that He Himself hath suffered being tempted, He is able to succour them that are tempted," that is, to save them FROM sin, not in going on IN sin (2:14-18).
* God has promised that in these last days He will give repentance, sending "another angel . . . having great power; and the earth [including subsaharan Africa will be] lightened with his glory, and he [will cry] mightily with a loud voice, saying Babylon the great is fallen" (Rev. 18:1-4). O Lord, haste the day! There is more "power of God unto salvation" in the true gospel than in all of President Bush's billions of dollars. (Bless him, he also is pleading for abstinence!)
